Recent Read- Empire of Illusion by Chris Hedges Chris Hedges addresses our lost of critical skills of literacy in current social patterns, which have led us to become incapable of examining political, economic, and social structures. We have chosen to turn away from global issues and reality by occupying our time with illusions and spectacles of fantasy.   Hedges’ discussions is delivered with no sugar coating, emphasizing the influence and tactics of corporate efforts- including political process with financial abuse, public distraction with celebrity obsession, educational system manipulation, and extra.  The last chapter is the essence of the book. Although Hedges may have painted a rather dark reality with his harsh criticisms, it is an extremely valuable tool for examining our political-economic culture.
